What is an ISBN barcode?
ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is the global identifier for books. Since 2007 the official form has been ISBN-13 (13 digits, prefixed 978 or 979), which is technically an EAN-13 barcode dedicated to publishing. The older ISBN-10 (10 characters) is still supported by many systems.
If you have been assigned an ISBN by your national agency, this tool turns it into a scannable barcode. Both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 inputs are accepted and the check digit is calculated automatically.

What is an ISBN barcode?
ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is the global identifier for books. The current form is ISBN-13, a 13 digit code prefixed 978 or 979 that scans as a standard EAN-13.
What is the difference between ISBN-10 and ISBN-13?
ISBN-10 is the original 10 character format used before 2007. ISBN-13 is the current 13 digit format prefixed 978 or 979. Both refer to the same book, but ISBN-13 is now required for new titles.
Where do I get an ISBN?
ISBNs are issued by national agencies (for example Nielsen in the UK, R.R. Bowker in the US, ISBN Türkiye in Turkey). This generator does not issue ISBNs, it converts an existing ISBN to a scannable barcode.
Do I need to calculate the check digit?
No. The check digit is calculated automatically for both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 using the standard algorithms.
